Yes your industry is very competitive. Yes you are very busy. Yes you need the financial means to pursue your dreams.
What are you going to do about it?
Jean-Marc Chaput, a well known French professional speaker, once said that as long as you keep on complaining about something you have not had enough of the situation. It’s when you start acting on it that you’ve had enough. In the meantime, the only thing you are doing is finding excuses to not act.
What are your excuses?
Not enough time? Not enough money? Too scared?
You use all those excuses and some more. So do I. I decided to find out why I use excuses and what I can do to stop procrastinating.
According to Dr. Wayne W. Dyer in his book “Excuses Begone!” excuses are coming from our beliefs and past experiences. He is right when he says that the only place where our excuses are originating from is within us.
We choose how we react to something. Nobody is telling us what to think or how to act.
There! The biggest excuse of them all “I have no choice”……. GONE!
How do you stop using excuses to delay acting on your dreams?
To paraphrase Tony Robbins: “You must change your state of mind.” Only then will you be able to embrace the change you want to make in your life.
Start by being real clear on what it is you want in life. If you have to, use a Vision Board to create your future. You don’t need to have a big one. Start with an 8.5 X 11 piece of cardboard, some pictures, crayons and your imagination. Every time you find something new you want to do with your life, add another cardboard. You will end up with a mosaic of your future. As you accomplish your goals replace the cardboard with new ones.
Then, recognize you are using excuses. It’s half the battle right there. Once you have acknowledged that fact, ask yourself:
“What is the worst that can happen if I act?” Let’s face it most of your decisions are not life threatening. By consciously evaluating the consequences of your decision to act, you make it possible to move forward one action at the time.
Are you ready to build the life you always wanted?
Stop listening to your mind telling you all those useless excuses and start acting. It’s your future and nobody is going to make it happen for you.
